I am almost done with the desk though!! I just need the right knobs to finish it off! I am also finishing up the dresser in the dining room!! It is raining like crazy today though, so hopefully once the rain stops I can put a few coats of poly on it!!! I am finally about to paint my living room and re do the gallery wall too!! Can you tell I am a little scatter brained!! LOL!! Sorry! Well here are a few pics of the desk!! Hopefully once I get used to all the running around I will able to post more often!!!

Do you like all the wall colors behind it!! LOL! Oh and here is a pic of one of the barrel chairs, it is not quite finished either but hopefully I can get to it soon!!

Well thats all I got for now! Later guys!!

Too Busy

Sorry I have been slacking in the blog world lately but I haven't been slacking in life!! Gabe had an MRI done and we were so thankful to get good results back! We are of course getting the kids ready to go back to school in a few weeks!! Crazy how summer break flew by! We have also had some house disaster projects going on!! When we bought our house over 4 years ago we knew it was going to need a new roof but we had to put it off for financial reasons. Gary was unemployed for a while so we are still trying to get back on our feet. Well we have had a good leak in the roof in our laundry room area for a while now. It has been a pain to deal with but since it wasn't in a major area in the house we have just dealt with it for a while. We had a major rain a couple weeks ago and we ended up with a huge mess! Now we have drywall and insulation all over our basement stairs and on some clean clothes!! Not cool! And if that wasn't enough we had discovered that the previous owners never secured the toilet to the floor! That sounds nice right? Well that means that lovely toilet water was trapped underneath the floor!! Awesome!! Well when we bought the house they had just redid the bathroom and it was with the ugliest blue ceramic tile ever. It went so well with the faux SOMETHING blue wall!! Well I painted the walls a pale gray but of course we still had the lovely blue tiles and now I wish I would have replaced them too so we could have discovered and fixed the problem before it got so bad. My first clue something wasn't right was the tile grout always looked wet, and they were starting to crack in a couple spots and of course the freely moving toilet. Well we knew ripping up ceramic tile was not going to be easy and we just don't have the money to put in the kind of flooring we want so we put if off for a little bit. We took a trip to Lowes last weekend and I found some flooring on clearance and couldn't believe it I could re do the floor in our bathroom for $14, yes you read that right, $14!! Now it is only temporary until we can afford to redo with what we want and put in a big jet tub for the hubby!! We still had to buy new sub floor and the primer for the floor but it was still an awesome deal! It was hard dirty work but it was worth it!! I still need to repaint because the floor is lower than it was before and it needs to be freshened up. I also talked my hubby into letting me paint the molding, trim, bathroom door and frame white!! Which believe me was a huge struggle!! He likes oak and I do NOT! The previous owners decided to NOT go with the rest of the house and put 2 oak stained wood doors, trim ,and molding up. The rest of the house is white and it has been driving me crazy for years!!So still some work to be done but here are the pics from that GROSS project! LOL!

The first pic is off the a piece of the ugly ceramic blue tile.  The second pic is what was under the tile and a layer of plywood! Layers of old tacky WET floor!! The third pic is how wet it was under the toilet!! Nice huh? The rest are the after floor, not bad for $14!!! The last is the ugly wood in the bathroom that I can't wait to paint!!!!!!! Well I hope that I don't take so long to post again!!

I must go on!!

Hello! Well my wonderful hubby came up with a temporary solution for my computer problem!! I couldn't be more happy! He decided until we send it off we would just hook up a monitor to my laptop so I could see again!! Love him!! Anyway! I have been super busy working on that desk and the set of barrel chairs! I am almost finished with the desk, I just need to get new hardware to put on it and we will be all done! I can't say the same for those chairs!!! I am in the process of removing all the fabric and a gazillion staples!!!! I have never seen so many staples in my life!!! I have been working for 2 nights now and I am still not even finished with one chair!!!! BOO!!! My hands hurt so bad!!! But I must go on!! LOL! I wanted to share with you guys some color inspirations for my living room. The colors are gray, brown, and orange. I am going to paint the walls gray but I am still deciding on a color. I am also going to get a new couch, which is a dark brown with a little gray in it! I also need to get some new curtains! The old ones have to go!!!! If you saw them you would agree!! LOL! I have everything else I need, I just have to pull it all together!! Anyway lets see some inspiration rooms!!!

Gorgeous right? Of course they all had to be bedrooms but the colors together are to die for!! I think anyway! LOL! Oh and on my first trip to IKEA ( amazing place) I picked up this cute rug!!

I would love some comments!! Oh and more followers, lol! Until next time!!!!! Bye!!

So sad!

Well last night I cracked my screen on my laptop and well can't see a darn thing!!! I am so mad at myself. I have to send it off to get fixed so I am not sure when I will get it back!! I will try and do my best and blog when I can. I am using an old relic computer we keep in the basement so it isn't the greatest! I guess I can at least get caught up on my projects rather then getting on the computer!! So when I get back I will have a ton to show you!!! Later!

Eyes bigger than my stomach!

Have you heard of the saying "my eyes are bigger than my stomach"? Well I am sure you have but I am not referring to food I am referring to taking on more and more projects but can't seem to finish them!! I am in the middle of ripping up our carpet in the living room, refinishing my dining room table from back in like March, finishing that dresser I showed you, refinishing a desk I just got last week, trying to redecorate my living room which means I have to re paint, and today I bought two rolling barrel chairs. I must be crazy, but when I saw them in the Goodwill today they were calling my name!! They have so much potential and for $5 you can't beat that!!! If anyone has any experience in recovering chairs like these please let me know!!!! I have never done anything but recovered my dining chairs, so any help would be greatly appreciated!! Well here are the pics of the chairs and the desk. The pic of the desk is from the craigslist ad and the pic of the chairs my daughter took.

Well hopefully I will have a reveal of some sort for you soon!!!!

Working working working...

I wanted to share with you guys what I have been working on lately. My mother in law gave me a gorgeous 20's or 30's dresser and chest of drawers that were her parents. They are not in the greatest shape so re staining is not an option but I know they are going to be beautiful!! I am working on the dresser right now. I removed all the hardware sanded, primed, and spray painted them with Rustoleum Hammered Bronze. I sanded down the dresser and drawers. I took the drawers out tonight and primed and painted them with Ace hardware Ivory gloss.  The drawers look gorgeous already!! I can't wait til I finish it and show you the results. But until then check out the dresser before.  Please ignore the mess, I have been just tossing stuff on top of it!!

Look at those details it is going to be Gorgeous!!! Not sure when I will get it finished because I have to take it outside to prime and paint, so I have to have a few days of nice weather but hopefully it will be soon! I also hope to add a little somthin somthin to it. Its a surprise!!! EEEKK! Can't wait! Wow i am a dork, lol!  I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Gallery wall

Well I am back from my little vacay to NC! We had a good time, I wish we could have stayed longer!! Today I thought I would share my gallery wall with you guys. I have seen gallery walls all over the place and knew I had to have one. I liked the picture ones and the empty frame and mirror ones so I wanted to try and combine all of them. I wanted mine to be a little funky so I wanted to try use a variety of colors, sizes, shapes, and finishes. The wall I was going to do it on has a ugly little thermostat and a electric plate for surround sound which we don't use so I wanted to try and hide those. I had bought the large sunburst style mirror a while back from Kohls and knew it would be an awesome centerpiece!! The rest of the frames I bought on clearance at TJ Maxx, Salvation Army, Goodwills, the Dollar Tree, and The Village Thrift. I chose to spray paint some of them with either, orange, ivory, chocolate brown, or brushed nickel finish.  Those are the colors that are in my living room.  I started by centering the large mirror on the wall and then one by one hanging the others up around them. I just eye balled it. It makes such a statement!! I love it!!! I have been thinking of spray painting them all one color but I am not sure yet. I thought I would let it stay like that a while. What do you guys think??

The walls are also going to get repainted, but I haven't decided what yet. So just ignore the wall color, lol!!

Oh sweet little chalkboard

Today we are preparing to go on a little trip down to North Carolina to visit my mom and I am super excited! I haven't seen my mom in like a year!!!! Too long!!! So I am busy getting things together. While I am packing I am waiting on a phone call from the Radiology dept so we can schedule an MRI for Gabe. The MRI is to see if he has Chiari Malformation and if he does he will have surgery to correct the problem. We have been dealing with Gabe's health issues since he was 4 months old and I am so ready for him to be normal and healthy!!! So I will be posting a quick little diy project I did a while back. I did this project back before this blog of course so again no before pic. I promise I will get better at this!! LOL! Anyway. I decided I wanted a little chalkboard for the kitchen so I could write down things we needed and little notes, and what not. I wanted to use stuff I had around the house so I didn't have to spend any money! Always a plus right?! I had an old frame, leftover spray paints, and leftover chalkboard paint from another project so I had everything I needed.  I roughed up the frame with sandpaper and spray painted it with Valspars Mediterranean Sea then sprayed Ace Hardware Ivory gloss over that. Then I lightly roughed it up again so the blue would show through just a little. I then took the glass from the frame roughed it up with sandpaper and then sprayed it with 2 coats of chalkboard paint and let it dry. Then I took chalk and rubbed it all over the chalkboard surface and then wiped clean.  Then It was ready!!

Turned out great for something that was FREE I think!! I promise I will get better at taking pics and explaining the whole process. I hope you enjoyed it. I don't know if I will be able post anything while I am on my little vacay so it might be a few days!!! Have a good 4th of July!!

Spoons, Forks and, Butterknives OH MY!!

Well My second DIY project came from the lovely Spunky Junky @  http://spunkyjunky.blogspot.com/ . She made her own set of spoon, fork, and knife artwork for her kitchen. Go check it out and her other projects  because she ROCKS!!

I don't have any before pics, but I started with 3 frames I found from different Goodwills and Salvation Armys  in my area, a bag of silverware from another Salvation Army for $1.99, some fabric I found at Hobby Lobby, and a can of primer, Krylon in Ivory gloss  and a hot glue gun. I ended up with these and I love them oh so much!!!!

So on to the next project....
What will I get into next?? There is no telling with me!!!

My first DIY project

I somehow found myself in the DIY world and decided it would be my new hobby. So I thought I would start out with a chair. Why a chair, well I am not sure but everyone needs a chair, right? Well I found a cute chair at my local Salvation Army it wasn't in the best shape but still usable and with a price tag of $2.99 how could I say no.

So then I had to think of what I actually wanted to do with is. That was harder than I thought. for a indecisive person like me!!! Well I wanted something chic, yet funky and somewhat sophisticated. I have always LOVED the houndstooth print so I knew I wanted to find that for the seat. I found an awesome fabric at Hobby Lobby for a decent price, of course I used the 40% coupon!! Then I had to think of what I wanted to do with the wood. I chose to go with Ivory in gloss. I bought Krylon but then found Ace hardware's brand of spray paint matched exactly. So now I use that for anything I want to paint white. So here she is in all her glory!!

I was going to keep the criss cross detail on the back but my 2 precious boys decided they didn't like it!! LOL!! Long story!! So I had to come up with something quick and I like how it turned out!!! She is so sweet, isn't she?

Very first blog

Well I have been reading a ton of people's blogs for months now and I decided that might be fun to do my own. Now I don't promise if will be good but I will try ;). I will just post about what is going on in my life, diy decorating, crafts, fashion, and whatever else I come up with because thats how I roll.
